From her glossy long hair, to her ultra thin figure and stylish clothing, Barbie is often the first introduction young girls have to body image. Show me one girl who has never played with a doll, let alone a Barbie doll, and I'll show you a liar. Being one of the most popular toys for young girls, this iconic figure is present in every girl's life at some point. In Barbie's beginning, she was meant to inspire girls to be who they want to be and to be used for entertainment, unfortunately as the years have progressed more unfortunate negative results have proceeded from her existence. Where curves and difference were once acceptable and appreciated, stick thin body figures with perfect hair were its replacement. Young girls everywhere later find themselves in their adolescent years dreaming of being the perfect size which can soon lead them down the scary path of anorexia, bulimia, and depression.
